Major Bloch Antony…

Introduction

Born during the Cardassian occupation, Antony is a veteran of the Bajoran resistance and, subsequently, the fledgling Militia. Favouring independence over Federation membership, Antony has nonetheless been assigned as an exchange officer and tasked with integrating Starfleet security protocols into Bajoran security operations.

Family

Orphaned at age 5.  Father Issa, mother Mora – both presumed deceased.

Character History

Antony’s childhood was shaped by the resistance cells he live with and the families that fostered him.  He had knowledge of his parents but never knew them and the memories he has of them was from those that knew his parents.   He has accepted the fact that his father had died in one of the Cardassian penal camps but he does not have closure yet on the fate of his mother.  Rumors that he may have a sister have also arisen in the past several years.   Antony’s service to Bajor has allowed him to continue to serve his people but to allow him higher level access to sources of information on the possible fate of his mother and potential sister.

Following the end of the Dominion War, Antony volunteered to serve on Cardassia Prime helping with the rebuilding of the planet.   He separated his distrust of the former Cardassian government from the needs of the people that were devastated by the Dominion bombardment of the planet’s cities.  When challenged by those in the resistance movement of why he would even consider helping his enemies and those that killed his family he responded “Hate and anger has to stop somewhere.  It stops now.”

2335  Born in the Hill Province on  Bajor during the 16^th year of the Cardassian Occupation after the Cardassians annexed Bajor in 2328.   Family connections are sketchy at best having been orphaned when he was five years old in 2340.  His father (Issa) was sent to a penal camp for alleged anti-occupation activities.  Details of his imprisonment were destroyed upon the Cardassian withdraw from Bajor in 2369.  Mora, his mother, was impressed into domestic service with various Cardassian during this same period.  Her whereabouts remain a mystery as well.  Both parents are presumed deceased.   Antony spent his childhood passed between relatives and associates of his father.

2351 (Age 16)  Antony begins active participation with insurgency and anti-occupation groups and cells.  Antony was heavily influenced by the anti-occupation cells that cared for and protected him following the imprisonment of his father.

2355 (Age 20)  Antony now fully active in the growing resistance movement.  Declared a terrorist by the Cardassian occupation government of Gul Dukat, his cell operated within the Hill District to disrupt Cardassian activities.

2369 (Age 34)  Cardassians withdraw from Bajor.  Bajoran Provisional Government established.  UFP/Star Fleet begin active presence in Bajor.  In the Years prior to the Cardassian withdrawal Antony had risen to hold various positions of responsibility within the resistance movement.  Upon the formation of the Bajoran Provisional Government he went to work with the Bajoran Militia.  Antony was not hostile towards Star Fleet or the Federation he was not a proponent of full membership in the UFP but rather a free association, maintaining Bajor’s independence.

2373-2375 (Dominion War)  Antony continued to rise within the Bajorian Militia during the period of the Dominion War.  Distrustful of the Cardassian / Dominion Alliance he understood that Bajor’s security hinged on the success of the Federation to defeat the Dominion.  Using skills honed during the Cardassian occupation he worked to disrupt Dominion and Cardassian military activities in the Bajor System.

2390 (Age 55)  Antony serving as a senior advisor to the Bajoran Minister of Defense.  Bajor has become a member of the Federation with most security forces having been absorbed into Starfleet.  By treaty, Bajor retained administrative control of DS9 and the Worm Hole.  The Bajoran Militia provides security services and works in conjunction with Starfleet Personnel. 

2395 (Age 60)  Antony still serves as a senior security advisor to the First Minister of the Bajoran Republic.  He has been tasked to integrate Starfleet operations and protocols into Bajoran security operations and detailed to the USS Hiroshima as Chief Security Officer to both serve the ship and to inform his advice concerning the integration of Bajoran and Starfleet personnel, methods, and technology.

Personality

Antony is driven by the concept of “doing what is right” and he approaches decision making from the standpoint of “Is it the easy thing to do or is it the right thing to do?”   He will often apply this concept to his personal as well as his professional life.

Antony is motivated by service to people.  He has been a private benefactor to several Bajoran Orphanages and is a strong advocate for those that are underserved or needing care or services.

Antony’s amenable personality allows him to mediate between the religious and secular factions on Bajor.  He is tactically empathetic and believes strongly in positive forward thinking.  He is known for being a quiet but strong presence in a room.  He is a confident and optimistic individual who believes that there are always alternatives, always opportunities.

Antony never married and never had any serious relationships as he immersed himself into his work and search.  He does allow people to get close to him and his private inner circle of friends is a tight knit  network of confidents, peers, and resistance members.  Those that know him will describe him as “loyal but don’t’ cross him too often,” meaning Antony does have his limits.

Appearance

60 years old, grey hair.  Middle aged by Bajoran standards the time in the resistance has taken its toll on him physically.
