His jaw was locked as Iskander leaned back against the nearest bulkhead, as far out of the doctors' way as he could manage. He happened to meet Tanya's gaze as it flickered to him, reading the uncertainty there, and gave her what confidence he could manage. It wasn't much, he was sure. Starfleet Medicine was a remarkable accomplishment for the Federation, but even it had limits; and if there was anything that ever challenged medical knowhow more, it was the brain - human or otherwise. Right now, they could only hope ... and pray.
The Dyson Hive
Synopsis: The meeting with the Klak'kati hive went well, at first, but the crew of the Hiroshima soon learned that they had been, in fact, herded (see Ice Capades synopsis) by the Breen, who'd placed a cloaked pod on one of the ship's nacelle struts. This pod replicated and distributed a lethal virus and the Hiroshima was its unwilling (and unknowning) host.
Initially blamed for the outbreak, the crew of the Hiroshima successfully navigates a touchy diplomatic challenge and, while the Klak'kati Hive is closed (for the time being) to the Federation, it is not an enemy.
